One of the hardest parts of working on a project like this (at least for me) is choosing a cover for the book from the submissions I get. I ran a contest over at 99Designs.com for the book cover and got over one hundred submissions from nearly 50 graphic designers. Some were awful, but there were some truly amazing cover ideas, almost too many from which to choose.
One thing I was surprised about was that some of the covers gave me ideas for future story ideas in the Extreme Medical Services world. For example, how did paramedic Brynne Garvey and her eventual boyfriend and vampire overlord of Elk City meet? Enter the short project (novella) I’m working on now while the final polish gets added to “Extreme Medical Services.”
If you’re not yet on the email list for this blog and getting updates on the books to be released for Extreme Medical Services, sign up now. I’m giving the Novella away to all the email list members for free as soon as it’s done. My goal is to have it out by mid-October. It’s just another thank you ahead of time for supporting this project and enjoying the characters in the chapters you’ve read so far.
Tentatively titled “The Paramedic and the Vampire,” the new novella tells the story of how the two of them meet and also gives a lot of the background into how the Extreme Medical Services teams were first organized. The ExMS teams later evolved into the dedicated ambulance crews that young paramedic Dean Flynn joins right out of the academy in the novel coming out in just a few weeks.
So don’t miss your chance to get this new novella to be made available to you for free just for being a
supporter. Join the email list and be ready for the release of “Extreme Medical Services” and ready for your free gift!
